My knowledge about Ecuador before going there was minimal. I knew a little more about the Galapagos islands, but that knowledge was connected to Darwin.
I found out that Ecuador can be divided geographically into five parts: The Andes range that split into a western and eastern branch, between them is the high plateau. To the east of the eastern branch is a big area of jungle, rain forest, belonging to the Amazonas basin. Here they have found oil and that has created problems in addition to giving the country income. The fourth area is the coastal plain, which we only drove through, and finally Galapagos!
We visited all parts (except driving through the costal plain.
I will not write a “diary” but about “themes”. OK?
