The last church-monastery complex we visited was Noravank, nora means new, so this was so young as from 1205. It was may be the nicest we saw both because of the location as the buildings.
But also because some of the decorations were really nice.
On this picture we were told the bottom part was Virgin Mary carrying Jesus’ soul up to God. God is on top and this is one of the few carvings of God (here he is definitely male). He is holding his fingers on both hands in special formations. Does anyone know what that means?
It was somebody who meant that this was a strict angel with boobs, but I think we decided against that theory,
