The temple we visited is a monolithic temple. That means they started with a solid rock hill and then chiseled away, so they sculptured buildings and statues out of an existing hill. No building activities necessary, just take away what is not needed,
From the boulders in the foreground and the line over the roofs we can see how the hill looked like before the work started. The elephant to the right was also “hidden” in the hill.
The work was done in great detail, symmetrical and exact, so the artisans must have been really skilled in addition to careful planning.
And of course as usual I smiled and greeted people, shook hands, made high-fives and took pictures of people.
